So I found this challenge on Twitter to list your top 10 favorite books, but I’m a bit wordy when it comes to my favorite books (and trying to decide which books are my favorites in the first place), so I’m going to list them on here instead! By the way, these are NOT in order, because that would kill me to try to decide.
1. A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L’Engle
Despite this not being my preferred genre of fantasy romance, this is actually the first book I ever fell in love with. Back in elementary school, in fact.
2. Ash by Malinda Lo
This is the most recent book I’ve read that was immediately added to my favorites. Who doesn’t love Cinderella-type stories? Especially when they involve lesbians and faeries.
3. Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling
I think we all knew that this was going to be added to my list. I’ve met very few people who don’t like Harry Potter, but I absolutely love it. Could debate it for hours, but still love it.
4. Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
I actually watched the animated movie first before reading the book, because I didn’t know a book existed, but I actually love both versions for different reasons. Howl was absolutely my favorite.
5. Night World by L. J. Smith
So if I had to pick a favorite, this would be my absolute favorite. This series inspired me to start writing in the first place, so it will always have a special place in my heart.
6. Scarlet by A. C. Gaughen
It’s been a while since I read this one, but I still love the idea of a fearless woman in Robin Hood’s Band of Merry Men so this is still a favorite as well.
7. The Dark Wife by S. E. Dierner
This is a Hades and Persephone retelling with lesbians, which automatically adds it to my favorites list because it’s everything I ever wanted in life. I have read many other retellings, but this remains my favorite.
8. The Eternal Ones by Kirsten Miller
This is super dark and interesting in my opinion. The main character was reborn and remembers part of her life but can’t quite piece it all together which ends up dangerous for her. She goes to find her lover from her past life, who has been reborn as well and remembers her. It’s a tale of betrayal and keeps you guessing, which I absolutely loved.
9. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
So I actually remember that my mom read this first and was confused by it, so she gave it to me since I would probably be more interested. I absolutely was, which is why I still consider it today to be one of my favorites.
10. Wings by Aprilynne Pike
Anything with faeries is something I want to read, so I picked this up in my high school library and enjoyed it so much it was added to my long list of favorites.
…Now that I’ve written all of these down and remembered their plots, I really want to read them all again. Well, I know what I’m doing with the rest of my weekend.
Harry Potter!! ❤️
